What to Expect: The Gum Disease Treatment Process

1

Periodontal Evaluation

Our dentist will examine your gums, measure pocket depth around the teeth, and check for signs of gingivitis or advanced periodontal disease.

2

Deep Cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing)

If gum disease is present, we perform scaling and root planing, a deep cleaning procedure that removes plaque and tartar from below the gumline and smooths tooth roots to encourage healing.

3

Antibiotic Therapy (If Needed)

For severe cases, we may apply antibiotic treatment to eliminate infection-causing bacteria and promote gum tissue regeneration.

4

Ongoing Maintenance & Prevention

Regular dental visits and proper oral hygiene help prevent gum infection from returning. We’ll provide personalized recommendations to keep your gums healthy.

Have questions? (FAQs)

What are the early signs of gum disease?

Symptoms include bleeding gums, swelling, bad breath, and gum recession. Early detection is key!

Is gum disease reversible?

Gingivitis treatment can reverse early-stage gum disease, but advanced periodontal disease requires ongoing management.

Does deep cleaning teeth hurt?

Scaling and root planing may cause mild discomfort, but we use local anesthesia or sedation to keep you comfortable.

Can receding gums grow back?

While gums don’t regenerate naturally, treatments like gum grafts and proper oral care can prevent further recession.
